My Norwegian 03 CTR and 93 VTi

Post by n0stra »

Hi there, just got invited to your forum by a fellow member on clubeg6.com so i thought, what the hell :)

Anyway, my first car, bought back in 2005:

Car is a 03 NBP CTR as you can see in the images. Most of these although, are taken before the modifications. Got it dynotuned on a dynapack for over 4 hours. The result was 209WHP wich should give something around 245BHP. Huge improvements in torque around 5000rpm.

Modifications allready in place:

tires: Bridgestone Potenza S03 215x40x17
air: Mugen sport air intake
exhaust: Fujitsubo RM-01A
motormounts: Energy Motor Mount inserts
header: Toda Racing 4-2-1
swaybar: Honda JDM 22mm type-R swaybar
electronics: Hondata K-pro Engine Management System with PRB ECU, Honda OEM widebandlambda
grill: Mugen
frontlip: Mugen
brakes: Ferodo DS2500 brakepads

Modifications bought but not installed:

enginedampener: Ingalls engine torque dampener
brakes: stainless steel
clutch: stainless steel
gearbox: aluminium bushings
suspension: SpoonSport progressive
bling: mugen oilcap, mugen gas cap, mugen thermostat, mugen fanswitch, spoon magnetic drain plug kit, piaa wipers, piaa ultra white wedge lights, etc

Modifications bought and on its way:

interior: Mugen pedals
electronics: Defi cluster (the black ones with red numbers) plus controller unit II and HUD

Future plans:

gearbox: Buddyclub shortshift, Honda JDM Helical LSD DC5R/EP3R + Toda lightweight flywheel
Swaybar rear: dunno yet, something around 22-27mm
brakes: Spoon
wheels: Volk Racing CE28, LE28 18X7,5 - 8,5, although not sure
seats: Recaro JDM EP3R red
exterior: LHD EDM CTR facelift headlights (the ones with HID's), Mugen replica carbonfibre bonnet,
engine: Toda or IPS cams and springs, Honda JDM intake header or something better, open for suggestions
interior: red CTR mats and doorcards

I would love some sugestion or critique on the plans i have for the future. Also i should mention right away that the reason why im going NA is mainly the ridiculous taxes we have to pay if the goverment suspects that we have modified our cars. And a turbo or a SC screams it out loud if they pop the hood. Also a turbo is to risky for me, a supercharger would have been nice though.

If i were to put 50 more horesepower in my car and had to get papers on this it would cost me 15.000 USD. Something to think about :)

Finally got around to install the Mugen front also:

Some more jdm bling has arrived:

Then its my other car wich i just bought:

The car is a 93 EG VTi. The chassis has done around 200 000km and the engine/transmission/suspension 140 000.

B16A2 engine, not sure but i belive the suspension, brakes etc are the same as the JDM SIRII. In europe its just called VTi.

The last owner had some ideas about styling and such that i dont totally agree on, this means the car is now fitted with BuddyClub2 frontbumper, rear bumper and sideskirts. Onepiece halo headlights and some ugly lexus rear lights. He has also welded shut almost everything including the door handles and installed some door popper thingy.

The engine has a defect distributor, ive just ordered a new one from distributor king for a price around 148$. Compared to the price norwegian Honda wants, 1000$, thats a real bargain. Also a friend of the last owner managed to cut halfway trough the wires going into the ECU, so im having a friend with electrician skills to fix that for me, besides from that the whole interior including the dashboard has been removed so i have to install that also. This means i can clean up the carpets and stuff while im at it.

The car is actually painted not long ago in Candy Apple Red from House of Kolor. A "tricked out" color so to say, not my first choice but it doesnt look that bad so im not going to repaint it at the moment.

Luckily i got the original bumpers and sideskirts also plus the original lights. The rear one wont fit at all with the paint, but i think the red/white rear lights would fit nicely and look more normal compared to the extremely ugly lexus type wich is fitted. Going to refurbish the headlights and install these until i can find some clear ones with amber corners.

I plan on doing a overhaul of the engine, clear up some wires, make the car run again and then later on im discussing the possibility of being one of the first to buy the new Akmee B16 kits. Looks very promising. Some black recaros will also be fitted with a suede momo streeringwheel.

Is there by any chance someone that sels black/dark grey carpets? The grey interior looks awful if you ask me. The dashboard has allready been painted in vinyl black.

Anyway, this is my first EG as i stated earlier. Im also the proud owner of a 03 Civic Type-R wich until now has been my primary project. Ive used so much money on it by now that i need something else that im not to afraid to do some real work on. Cars are expensive over here in norway.

Sorry about the crappy cellphone images, its the best i have at the moment.

Hi , welcome here!

What do you mean with grey interior of your EG?

A stock original VTI should have black dash, doorpanels and rearpanels. Just the fabric can be grey.

Maskertje: The car was originally not a VTi, everything but the dashboard and interior has been swapped.

We'll call you just Arnt if you don't mind!

Say, does the word or name Grijt seem familiar to you, a Norwegian family name perhaps? I was told that my last name is from a Norwegian ancestor, but haven't been able to verify this myself.

Welcome Arnt! Nice modifications on the CTR and a very nice second car with the Buddyclub2 full bodykit. One of the nicest kits in my opinion!

I must say, this forum seems very active, ive never gotten such many greets in such a short time :) Thanks!

The former owner of the EG also gave me 1 liters of candy paint so my plan is to fix some minor flaws here and there, reinstall the doorhandles and also fix the original styling so that i can swap between the BC2 and OEM. I also got the carbon BC2 catkiller or whatever its called that has never been installed. The first thing that is going to be replaced is the bmw fenders (m3 or z3 or whatever it is).

I was also thinking that carbonfibre lip (SiR, Spoon or Mugen) would match up nicely with the carbonfibre spoonlook mirrors and perhaps a Spoon carbonfibre wing and a carbonfibre hood eventually. Togheter with the candy color.

Going to order some more stuff from nengun.com (japanese webshop that i can recomend together with takakaira.com). Not sure on what to get though.

Also got to figure out what exhaust manifold im going to get for the B16 in the EG. Saving up for some IPS k2 camkit and K24 intake manifold also for the CTR. That should give me around 25-35BHP more.

Btw, how hard is it to get hold of left hand drive red CTR mats and the facelift HID headlights for the CTR from BeNeLux ?

Not that hard, any Honda dealer should be able to suply the HID units, red mats i'm not sure.
The Anniversary edition came with red carpet but i don't remember if the mats are also red.
