Finished cleaning the engine I bought for fitment. The one in the earlier pictures is a C35 and has a different layout then a C30 or C32. For instance it has a balance shaft and a different waterpump setup.
Since I needed a similar block to a C30 but I didn't want to buy an NSx engine up front since there is always a slight chance that a project like this fails, I sourced an old honda legend C27 engine, it is an SOHC originally but the engine itself is vitually identical to a C30. the NSX C30 is derived from this C27 and the layout and transmission bolt pattern are identical. Also many NSX parts fit directly to the C27.
The C27 comes from an old 1989 Rover 827 Sterling which was fitted with this honda V6
(The C25 and C27 legend engines are alike except for the piston diameter.) I've also toyed with the idea of using this lower engine block and re-sleeving it with Darton MID sleeves upto 93mm and using the stock 75mm stroke compared to the nsx stock 78mm stroke, which in turn gives me higher rpm and a 3,1L high rpm engine...but after measuring, I came up with a little problem in deck height and all of this is do-able but will require so much engineering that buying a stock nsx engine will be better in the end...
for now I've cleaned the C27 and mounted a new oem nsx waterpump, a new oem nsx oil pump, a new oem nsx timing cover and a new oem nsx oil pan..
A new alternator bracket is on it's way and the front engine mount bolts to this bracket. When it is in place, I am going to put the whole setup together with the adapterplate and then I can start putting it in it's final position in the car and fab up the engine/transmission mounts/brackets.
