Type-R Numbers (HELP URGENT)

Post by Benjdmin »

Good evening,

Just a quick question for the pro's out there. Since I’m just buying a CTR I was checking the number register for the EP3's on the forum.

I noticed something that I didn’t quite understand, the numbers increase from 2001 onwards depending on the year of build.

I noticed that the 2005 EP3's have numbers as high as R-38xxx however my car is supposed to be from March 2005 and has number R-05xxx. :(

What does that mean?

Thanks for any help you guys!

Im seriously a bit worried!

R-05xxx, should be a 2001 car not a 2005!

PLEASE HELP!!!

Does anybody know anything about the red Type-R 32-RH-KH in Naaldwijk, am I being scammed?

STARTING TO GET REALLY WORRIED!!! :cry:

Ive checked the RDW website:

Datum eerste toelating: 31-03-2005

Datum eerste afgifte Nederland: 31-03-2005

But the damn number does not match!

I'm not a pro, but it could be it's imported... Do you have the maintenance history of the car? At which km's did it have it's check-ups, any invoices of repairs, any of that?

Well, i can't believe Honda wil scam you. Maybe they had it in stock for a really long time :-? as a showroom car? Why don't you ask the dealer why it has such a low serialnumber?

Hey B. I remember when I bought my car, my type-R number got lost or was missing. So I asked the Honda dealer about it and they gave me a type-R number of a 2005 model. So my number does not match with my car. That's why I didnt registerd mine. So I don't think it's a scam. And I'm not sure, but the numbers are random as well.

You can see if it's the facelift right? Like other backlight unit, other mirrors etc.

Also, what it CAN be, the model is from 2001, and it has been in the showroom 3-4 years(I think Joanne has this too(she knew it tho) And you get a license plate when it goes on the road...From that moment the 'fabrieksgarantie' starts also..

Yeah its a facelift for sure! But I think its still strange, the number should be above R-35000 at least...

Well Im calling Honda tomorrow just to make sure!

The year of production is usually encoded in the VIN somewhere. I think it's the 10th position..

SHH = Honda Swindon
EP3 = Chassis/model code
350 = Options/bodystyle
5 = Production year (5 = 2005 :D )
U = Assembly plant code
xxxxx = serial :)

I would still try to found out why your R-number is so low. What's the use of the number if you can't say: "Hey, i've got one of the first!" :P

I quess you're talking about the Type R number which sits on the dashboard on the lit of the cupholders ?
Could it be possible the lit got damaged and replaced by a salvage yard one with a low number ?

They manufacture the numbers in batches and just put a random one on the next finished car....there's no point in the R numbers because there not related to the build time in any way.

so there's nothing to worry about 8)

Check dutch licenceplates @ RDW

The RDW say's it's first put on name on 31-03-2005 and date of first licenceplate is also 31-03-2005.
