What can I do?

Post by Benjdmin »

Hi all; I’m a bit sad,

As some of you may know I just got myself an EK4 as a daily driver.

Its a 1996 with 175.XXXkm, and I got it for a good deal.

However during the course of the last few days certain shit has come to light that would have surely meant that I would have thought twice about purchasing this vehicle.

So I get into the car this morning to pick up some motor oil and I have no clutch, after pushing in the clutch a couple of times I can finally put it into gear. At this point I’m not that worried since I figured there might just be some air in the system and I would just have to bleed it out.

Well I get back home, ready to do the oil change. Remove the front bumper to be able to drive the car onto the ramps, get back into the car and no clutch again.

So yeah I have no clutch now and I found a leak down by the slave cylinder, so it might be the clutch line or the cylinder that’s leaking.

Anyway, my question to you is:

How on earth did this car get APK just a few days ago?

Can I hold the seller of the car responsible?

I would be thankful for any advice on how to handle this matter.

Tell him about the problem, if he's responsible enough he should help you out, e.g. compensation?

A leeking master or slave cilinder is a "common" problem. And when the clutch was okay during APK...
So i think you cant hold the previous owner responsible...

The problem is proving that it was indeed the previous owner who did it.

Best thing is just to accept it and fix it asap.

best of luck to you

I disagree....

how much of an effort is it to pick up the phone and call the seller and explain him the situation?

indeed if he is reasonable the issue will be taken care of in one way or another.......if not, cant blaim a guy for trying right....?

I’m going to give him a call tomorrow.

But I doubt he will come up for it judging by his character and since he lied about various other things regarding the car. :(

I’m going to try to fix the leak myself, so I just need to pay for the parts.

I think if I just fill up the reservoir I can get her into gear and drive her up the ramps, otherwise my girlfriend is going to have to help me push.

Anybody know where I can get cheap OEM parts?

Cheers,
