Hi all! (Update, Ek9)

Im sure she could have told me but I didnt want to ask.
It could have been something ridiculous like 20.000 yen which is like 120 Euros.
Im going to try to find out if there is some way of being at the auction live through skype or on the telephone.
They should offer something like that as well.
They have detailed descriptions of how much the cars go for on average so I know exaclty how much I should bid.
(I always bid above average)
The problem is that I am not there live and someone can just bid 20.000 yen more and the car belongs to them.
Sometimes you might be lucky and get a car for near to nothing.
Other times you have someone there who really wants this particular car and you get outbid by much more.
A friend of mine in Japan got his good condtion 98spec DC2 for about 4000 Euro, he was there live and nobody else wanted the car so he got it for that cheap.
Its all about luck, which I dont have!

I will probably be in Japan for a year either in 2008 or in 2009, so I'll have a look then as well for sure.
Like baRt said, you can indeed get cars for really little money over there if you are lucky enough and have the right connections.
I mean in general Japanese cars loose their value quickly over there.
Depending on the condition of course!
The goal is to get a car that is in good condition, this can be seen by the grade given to a car at the auction.
The grading scale is 1.0 - 5.0 and cars that have accident (even if its just really minor damage, bodykit, or tuning) are graded R for repaired or just -0.
Also -0 grade cars go for really really cheap!
(These -0 grade cars are the ones that get imported over here by importers, they pay almost nothing and then sell them here for a lot.)
You have to keep in mind also that new Japanese cars over there are ridiculously cheap to begin with.
Example: 2007 FD2 R 17000 Euro

The fact that cars in Japan loose money quickly has something to do with Shaken (speak out as sharken) and is the Japaneese equivalent of our APK. Shaken is more complex en costly than our APK and that is why a lot of people sell their car just before it has to go to the Shaken office, en a lot of relatively new cars on the market drop their prices.
btw, better luck next time.

Both my parents are German but I have never lived in Germany, so I cant really tell you where Im from since Ive been all over the place and have no home.
I actually kind of consider myself Dutch because Ive been here the longest time and I like it here a lot!
I like Japan and everything that has something to do with it, art, literature, film, history and of course cars.
Also have a few good Japanese friends.
So I figured I might as well study something that Im interested in.
Besides Holland is the best place in the world besides Japan that you can learn Japanese in.
Not a lot of people know that Uni Leiden has one of the best programmes in the word.
I was raised speaking English, went to English schools, and even speak English at home.
Its my German that sucks, I really need to speak it more often.
The level of English here on this forum is surprisingly good, Im also on a few other Dutch forums where I really have a hard time communicating with the people.
My spoken Dutch is almost fluent, when I speak Dutch you can tell that Im of German origin. ops:

Like I said, most Dutch people find English really difficult. I loved it at high school.
My next school will be most likely 50/50 in English. Would really do me good because at the moment I'm a little rusty.
That because I currently do not attend school... Xbox360 live helps though
Maybe you should consider importing one from German, like I did.
That helps, like, A LOT.

Ive Imported all my cars from Germany so far.
However, EG6's and DC2's for example are almost the same price over there as they are here. :-?
The ones that you can really save money on are AP1's and EP3's.
There is actually an EP3 for sale right now, RED with only 3400km on the clock; a dream car!
Also Italy is cheap, but too far to travel for me. (Then I might as well just get one from Japan)
In France there are two really nice DC2's for sale, one with 28.000km and the other with 54.000km both really clean original cars.
